[ When has he ever taken long when Zishu calls him? Kexing strides up a few minutes later, blankets draped over one arm and wine bottles dangling from straps from the other. He sets the wine down before leaning in to claim a kiss from his silly soulmate then drapes one of the blankets around him before sitting...

Then flops over onto Zishu to press his ear against his mate's stomach with a playful grin. ]

[He smiles at the first sounds of his beloved joining him. Kexing never disappoints him; he can always count on him. When the kiss comes, he grabs the front of his Lao Wen's robes and grins. So what if he's a little smug?

The blanket feels good, but he isn't expecting to be flopped on! Laughing, startled, he cards his fingers through Kexing's hair.]

If you get that close, they might kick you into the fire!

[ He likes when his A-Xu is smug~ And happy. And that smile! Kexing could look at him for days and not tire of his soulmate's beauty.

But he likes surprising his beloved even more! His grin brightens at that laugh and he wraps his arms around his love's waist, nuzzling that stomach as if giving their child affection! Only to sigh happily as those gentle fingers run through his hair. He pouts playfully at the warning and wraps himself around Zishu and peers imploringly up at him ]

They can't when I'm holding onto you like this!

[He doesn't think much of his looks, but his lover's looks are another matter entirely! Wen Kexing has taken his breath away since the moment they met. Of course he couldn't show it. Zishu knows better than to ever reveal his full hand.

Except...now...he can.

The snuggling has him laughing harder and he bends to kiss Kexing's temple, circling his arms around him. Even if their baby existed and had powerful kicks, he won't let his beloved go flying anywhere.]

You're safe, Lao Wen. Our baby loves you.

[ He loves taking Zishu's breath away! It's no less than Zishu's effect on him. They've both had to live with keeping their cards close to their chest just to survive. But with each other...their bond is a special, beautiful thing.

Kexing smiles at the laughter, unable to hold the pout in the face of that beautiful sound, and snuggles close. He's not about to let go now! ]

Of course I'm safe, A-Xu. I'm with you. You'll always protect me.

[ Just as fiercely and jealously as Kexing will protect Zishu. ]

[With each other, everything is clear and sweet. Zishu doesn't fear telling Kexing of his love because he can see his feelings returned each time the other man smiles.

Nestling his Lao Wen comfortably on his lap, he traces over that handsome face with his fingertips. No. No pouting.]

I don't think you need it. [He presses a kiss to Kexing's forehead.] But just in case you do, I'm here.

[ Kexing knows Zishu loves him too, by the real smiles he gets. By those sweet words being said. By how Zishu seems to always lean into wherever he sits or stands.

He sighs softly under those fingers and lets his eyes close as the force of his smile softens. His cheeks pink happily at the kiss to his forehead and he tilts his head up in silent request for a proper kiss. ]

Of course I need you. Always.

[His beloved is a wonderful place to rest! Even when his body is so sore that his clothes cause him discomfort, he loves snuggling in his Lao Wen's arms. It feels safe and Zishu hasn't known a lot of safety in his life.

Beaming at how his soulmate relaxes, Zishu slips his fingers back into Kexing's silky black hair. Then he gives his beloved exactly what he seeks - a long, tender kiss.]

I need you more than you need me, love. I don't think I would have lived this long without you.

[ And he loves being that source of comfort and safety for Zishu. Just as Zishu is where he finds his own safety and rest.

He purrs under those hands and presses into that perfect kiss, one arm slipping around Zishu's neck to hold on. He ends with nuzzling their noses and lips together. ]

I love when you need me. I need that just as much as I need you.

[Zishu keeps close, pressing their foreheads together. He cradles his sweet beloved and smiles into his eyes, letting his touch wander just a little bit. He loves caressing that strong back, for example.]

My Lao Wen, there will never come a time when I don't need you. I could be healthy and immortal and I would still need you.

[ He loves the returning strength in those arms and is just as shameless in stroking over Zishu's perfect shoulder blades. He grins at that wandering hand! ]

That's what I want! I want forever with my A-Xu.

[His cheeks pink and he softens, kissing those perfect lips again...and again. He will never take Kexing for granted. Never.]

Thank you for finding me. [And loving him. Zishu wraps the blanket around Kexing too.] I'll keep you safe in this world. You have my word.

[ Those extra kisses send a shiver through him and he sighs, melting against his beloved. He strokes over Zishu's hair, beaming lovingly up at him. ]

I will always find you.

[ He nudges their noses together again as he's bundled up with his lover. ]

Of course you will.

[With the fire crackling merrily and his love in his arms, Zishu has no complaints about anything. He snuggles Kexing shamelessly, nuzzling him possessively.]

If you don't, I'll find you.

[He grins and slides a hand over Kexing's stomach.]

Have you eaten enough today?

[ The fire can't hold a candle to the warmth he feels in Zishu's arms. He beams and happily snuggles in and gives himself to this precious soulmate of his. A laugh escapes as Zishu rubs a hand over his stomach and arches up as if offering even that! ]

Of course you would!

Did you bring food out here, A-Xu? We should eat! I just brought the wine.

[Some nicely cooked meat is resting on a wooden plate by the fire. Zishu would happily kiss that stomach - it's such a nice offering! - but he would much rather see his beloved full and content.]

Eat, love. I went hunting and found the animals the villagers often consume.

[He kisses Kexing one more time before helping him sit up.]

The wine will be good with it.

[ See how distracting Zishu is to Kexing? He hadn't even noticed the fresh meat! And Zishu can always kiss his stomach after dinner. Kexing won't mind~

His cheeks pink a little as he kisses back, but he's reluctant to let go completely as he sits up. So instead of completely pulling away, he settles against his beloved's side after pulling the plate to them and sets it on their legs so they can share. ]

My mighty hunter~ Did you remember to remove the guts this time?

[He likes being that distracting! And he is rather proud of his meat, okay. He remembered what Kexing had taught him and, well, he didn't ruin it?

He reaches out to hold the plate steady while Kexing snuggles against him. The choice of staying close obviously pleases him as he immediately shares his blanket, draping it over Kexing's back.]

I remember everything you say.

[ He flushes happily at that answer and how his beloved makes sure he's also under the blanket. Just for that, he leans in to claim a soft kiss, gazing lovingly at Zishu for a moment. ]

As you should.

[ The words are teasing, for all the softness in his eyes. Zishu is his source of peace. Sanity. Everything that matters, he finds with his soulmate.

But then he smiles and picks up a piece of meat, nibbling on it before humming his approval. ]

It's good!

[All of the little details matter - and, really, they're not little at all. He doesn't like the idea of Kexing being cold and so he instinctively snuggles his soulmate and smiles into their kiss.]

As I should?

[His eyes widen and he blinks innocently. Then he kisses Kexing's cheek - the right punishment for being adorable, he thinks.

The praise makes him feel giddy and he ducks his head, grinning broadly.]

That means a great deal coming from my Lao Wen. You make such delicious food.

[ Everything that concerns them matters. Every little detail is not too small to meet. So he loves feeding his A-Xu and making sure he eats and sleeps enough to the point he guards that precious slumber.

He grins and kisses his love again. ]

[ He laughs and leans into that kiss to his cheek, snuggling against his beloved. That adorable reaction has him grinning again and it's his turn to kiss Zishu's cheek. ]

I like cooking for my A-Xu.

[Now he gets to return the favor~ It's a shame he doesn't have any spices to work with, but meat is usually good after being cooked over a fire.

He peels off a piece of meat and pops it into his mouth, barely detecting the smokiness. But it is still juicy, so he didn't overcook it.

The kisses make him shudder and he closes his eyes.]

I wish I could give you a baby. You'd be the best father.

[ They'll just need to hunt down spices. But for now, this is good enough, and Kexing appreciates the perfection of meat cooked over a fire.

He nuzzles his beloved's cheek, peppering a few more kisses to soft skin before taking another bite of the juicy meat. ]

You'd be the best mother.

We could adopt...A-Xu? I'm sure there are children here who need parents...

[Zishu will enjoy flavor again one day, but for now, it's about the energy food gives him. He eats so he can keep up with his beloved! The kisses just encourage him to enjoy his creation, however eventually he lays his head on Kexing's shoulder and watches the flames dance.]

I don't know about that. [He chuckles and then tips his head curiously.] If we find a place to really settle, I would be open to it. Otherwise it's not fair to drag them around at random.

[ It's why Kexing focuses on foods that are good for his beloved. Filling and energizing. And he rewards Zishu with many kisses and cuddles! Though that's also...because he loves them.

He leans his cheek against his beloved's head as they finish the plate between them, then offers one of the bottles of wine. ]

...So thoughtful, A-Xu. Yes. When we find a place to settle...we'll have many babies that way.
