[He motions at a bowl of beeswax and pulls Kexing's hand against his chest.]

Wei Wuxian spoke of the mirrors. I don't think they are random objects; I think they were placed here for us to find.

[ Well if his beloved is wanting to be cuddled...Kexing shifts so he is half draped around him and rests his chin on Zishu's shoulder. ]

I think he would have a good idea. And that wouldn't surprise me.

[Everything inside of him settles, aligning like the stars in the sky. He leans their heads together and pauses in his task, closing his eyes.]

He saw visions. From what I heard, I'm convinced not to go near anything that looks too interesting. If we need a mirror, we can use each other.

[ Kexing sighs softly, wrapping an arm around his beloved as he settles against his back. His eyes lower, but don't fully close. One of them has to keep an eye on the waters. He grins at the last. ]

We're good mirrors for each other.

[He is greedy for the contact, nestling against Kexing. Since coming to this place, he has learned to appreciate his soulmate all the more. If a mirror harmed him or killed him...

Zishu turns his head and kisses Kexing's cheek.]

I don't care how I look and you're always gorgeous.

[ So is Kexing. But more than that, knowing he's not about to lose his beloved to the Nails, seeing him heal, has done wonders for him. To lose him to anything else is simply impossible, but he'd follow just as swiftly into death as he does in life.

He leans into that kiss, then grins with a laugh. ]

Lucky me, I get to look at you as long as I want! And you, my A-Xu, are perfect.

[And that's why he has to live. Kexing is too bright and wonderful to die. Look at what he has already overcome! Zishu nuzzles the soft skin of his beloved's cheek and smirks at the laughter.]

If you saw yourself frequently, I wonder if my charm would last...?

[ His arm tightens around Zishu and he snickers before turning his head to claim a fierce kiss from those smirking lips. ]

It would.

[Light and color infiltrate his dull world and he groans, parting his lips eagerly. He wants to be held so tightly that he can barely breathe; he wants to be kissed senseless. But just by this man.]

You're biased. I think I love that about you.

[ Zhou Zishu is his world. The groan and parting of those lips makes him growl and shamelessly press in to deepen the kiss, embrace tightening in the way they both enjoy. Even when the kiss breaks, he pants for breath and presses his face against his beloved's throat. ]

I love my A-Xu too.

[The candles are forgotten as he holds onto those arms embracing him. Even knowing the dead are close and that this entire place is likely cursed doesn't matter. He smiles, breathlessly, and tips his head back to welcome his Lao Wen.]

Are you alright, love? This place is difficult.

A-Xu...

[ They can tackle anything together. Or find a solution to it. Kexing feels his world settle and nuzzles his beloved's throat with a low hum. ]

I have you. I can feel life and health returning to your body. I don't care where we are or where we go as long as you are well and with me.

Where else would I be? [He lifts a hand and strokes over Kexing's soft hair, unable to get enough of him.] I've told a few people that I have a handsome protector and they needn't worry about me. They knew it was you right away.

[Which amuses him. It feels good to be open and honest with his heart for once.]

[ A grin is pressed to Zishu's neck and he kisses the tender skin. ]

Why should I hide the fact I'm yours? I don't want to. [ He lets his voice take on a sulky tone with those words. He's been so utterly open with their fellow refugees about being Zishu's spouse that he can't imagine hiding it now! ]

You didn't have to be open about it. [Zishu turns and cups Kexing's face between his hands, stealing a soft kiss.] I would have understood.

[However this situation clearly makes him happier and he snuggles into their embrace, returning it with a sigh.]

[ Zishu is being too sweet! Of course he melts into those hands and soft lips. They'd hurt each other when they'd arrived - Kexing by sharing he'd not told his beloved about the plan to fake his death...and Zishu by simply revealing he'd taken the nails out, thus hastening his death.

Kexing pulls his soulmate close again, to enjoy the new position. ]

Because I was open about it, so many offered to help. I don't regret it.

People still ask how you're doing.

[He had hated seeing Kexing so desperate, so broken; that had never been his plan. But he is nothing if not stubborn and with help from various healers, he has found stability. Nothing is sweeter than seeing and feeling his Lao Wen's joy and he smiles, resting against his beloved, knowing he is safe.]

No one gave you any trouble?

[His cheeks pink and he grins.]

And you tell them I'm fine because I have you, right?

[ He claims a quick kiss then nuzzles those pink cheeks with a grin. Nothing sooths his fractured spirit more than snuggling his A-Xu's healthy body. ]

Locals would have, but they weren't told. Those I spoke with didn't care, only that you were cared for.

[ Kexing smirks, nuzzling their noses together. ]

Of course!

[He traces over Kexing's features with soft fingers, marveling over him. Fractured or whole, his Lao Wen will always have him.]

I love you.

[In case that isn't ridiculously clear.]

I couldn't have a better healer or protector.

[ Those fingers over his face bring peace and he hums, eyes closing to enjoy the gentle touches from his beloved. Those three precious words make his heart skip a beat and his smirk turns to a smile as he tightens his hold on Zishu.

He turns into his beloved's fingers, nuzzling them as he peeks at the man pressed so perfectly against him. ]

I couldn't love you more than I already do.

[His fingertips trail down Kexing's nose and over his lips, tracing and memorizing. Zishu's eyesight is poor, but he knows his Lao Wen. Soon his lips replace his fingers and he kisses the other man tenderly, treating his soulmate with all the softness Kexing deserves.]

You're my reason for everything. [He smiles as he pulls back.]

[ Maybe one day that sight will strengthen, returning to how it had been before. Until then, Kexing will be his eyes.

Soft lips that remind him why he wants to live only as long as his soulmate is with him. He sighs under the soft kisses, then melts into the sweet kiss that makes him Zishu's all over again.

The little laugh he manages is more emotional than he'd meant! ]

You are my life, A-Xu.

[He counts on it. For now, he has his soulmate and a voice to ask questions. Zishu has become skilled at operating without his full senses and, even like this, he is an opponent most can't beat.

The way his Lao Wen melts drives his desire higher. He wants him. But now isn't the time or the place. Running his fingers along Kexing's jawline and into his hair, he smiles lovingly at the laugh.]

Let's get back to a big soft bed, Lao Wen. You're too pretty for me to take in the sand.

[ Who can hope to overpower Zhou Zishu even at a fraction of his former power? So very few! Combined with Wen Kexing? No. That list is even smaller.

A low whine escapes and he shamelessly pouts as words and touch make him burn with want. ]

A nice big feather bed. You promised me a month!

[He can't help laughing, amazed at how easy Kexing makes this for him. But he wants to return the favor. Badly. With the effects of the nails stabilized, he thinks he can. They just need to take their time, which isn't so bad, really.]
