[ Zishu is being too sweet! Of course he melts into those hands and soft lips. They'd hurt each other when they'd arrived - Kexing by sharing he'd not told his beloved about the plan to fake his death...and Zishu by simply revealing he'd taken the nails out, thus hastening his death.

Kexing pulls his soulmate close again, to enjoy the new position. ]

Because I was open about it, so many offered to help. I don't regret it.

People still ask how you're doing.

[He had hated seeing Kexing so desperate, so broken; that had never been his plan. But he is nothing if not stubborn and with help from various healers, he has found stability. Nothing is sweeter than seeing and feeling his Lao Wen's joy and he smiles, resting against his beloved, knowing he is safe.]

No one gave you any trouble?

[His cheeks pink and he grins.]

And you tell them I'm fine because I have you, right?

[ He claims a quick kiss then nuzzles those pink cheeks with a grin. Nothing sooths his fractured spirit more than snuggling his A-Xu's healthy body. ]

Locals would have, but they weren't told. Those I spoke with didn't care, only that you were cared for.

[ Kexing smirks, nuzzling their noses together. ]

Of course!

[He traces over Kexing's features with soft fingers, marveling over him. Fractured or whole, his Lao Wen will always have him.]

I love you.

[In case that isn't ridiculously clear.]

I couldn't have a better healer or protector.

[ Those fingers over his face bring peace and he hums, eyes closing to enjoy the gentle touches from his beloved. Those three precious words make his heart skip a beat and his smirk turns to a smile as he tightens his hold on Zishu.

He turns into his beloved's fingers, nuzzling them as he peeks at the man pressed so perfectly against him. ]

I couldn't love you more than I already do.

[His fingertips trail down Kexing's nose and over his lips, tracing and memorizing. Zishu's eyesight is poor, but he knows his Lao Wen. Soon his lips replace his fingers and he kisses the other man tenderly, treating his soulmate with all the softness Kexing deserves.]

You're my reason for everything. [He smiles as he pulls back.]

[ Maybe one day that sight will strengthen, returning to how it had been before. Until then, Kexing will be his eyes.

Soft lips that remind him why he wants to live only as long as his soulmate is with him. He sighs under the soft kisses, then melts into the sweet kiss that makes him Zishu's all over again.

The little laugh he manages is more emotional than he'd meant! ]

You are my life, A-Xu.

[He counts on it. For now, he has his soulmate and a voice to ask questions. Zishu has become skilled at operating without his full senses and, even like this, he is an opponent most can't beat.

The way his Lao Wen melts drives his desire higher. He wants him. But now isn't the time or the place. Running his fingers along Kexing's jawline and into his hair, he smiles lovingly at the laugh.]

Let's get back to a big soft bed, Lao Wen. You're too pretty for me to take in the sand.

[ Who can hope to overpower Zhou Zishu even at a fraction of his former power? So very few! Combined with Wen Kexing? No. That list is even smaller.

A low whine escapes and he shamelessly pouts as words and touch make him burn with want. ]

A nice big feather bed. You promised me a month!

[He can't help laughing, amazed at how easy Kexing makes this for him. But he wants to return the favor. Badly. With the effects of the nails stabilized, he thinks he can. They just need to take their time, which isn't so bad, really.]

You will have your month, love. I wouldn't lie to you.

[ Easy. Zishu looks at him and Kexing wants him.

He beams at that laugh, letting the pout fade because he loves hearing his soulmate laugh. ]

Never?

Never. [His amusement fades and he gazes at the other man solemnly.] I asked you not to lie to me, didn't I? I never ask others to do what I'm not willing to do.

[ That catches him by surprise, leaving him blinking as thoughts scatter through his mind. Memories, fragments and whole flit around like birds.

Eventually it clears as he pushes them aside and gazes softly at his beloved. Ignoring how his heart hammers away. ]

My A-Xu is a very good man.

[Birds that he has every intention of capturing and placing in some order. Zishu cups Kexing's face between his hands and holds him. Just like this. Steady.]

What did that make you think about?

[ Hands that steady him in a way that nothing else ever has. Kexing leans into them with a little breath, arms curling tighter around Zishu's waist.

Does he dare give voice to those memories? His A-Xu asks it of him. So he draws in a careful breath, lips quirking though his gaze drops. Fingers dig just a little into the heavy cloth at Zishu's waist. ]

Broken promises. Empty words.

[The answer doesn't surprise him. So much must have happened to his Lao Wen to transform him into the terrifying Ghost Lord. Zishu loves both sides of his beloved and he doesn't shy from understanding the darker aspects. He just wishes he could have been there with his soulmate, holding his hand, helping him escape that nightmare.]

I will prove mine are not empty. [Zishu presses his lips to Kexing's forehead.] What I know, what I feel... You will be told. It feels right to be honest with you.

[ He doesn't like thinking about what he'd gone through at the hands of the previous Ghost Lord. He'd survived it, had learned how to protect himself with masks and acts. Had learned to be hard and cruel and insane. Clinging to the only thing left to him.

The kiss to his forehead draws him out and he gives himself a little shake as he focuses on his soulmate. ]

You promised me you would live. And you are. I can feel your body getting stronger, A-Xu. Nothing else matters.

[What can he do besides sit and wait patiently? If his beloved is afraid to come out, hiding behind insanity, Zishu will stand beside him, never wavering. His smile is a little sad and he sighs, pulling his Lao Wen into his arms.]

I will keep my promise. All of my promises. I don't make them lightly. You are my heart and soul.

[ He presses into those arms, tucking his face against the strong pulse at Zishu's neck and nuzzling a little. ]

And so my soulmate is very good to me.

As if my Lao Wen doesn't take care of me. [His voice wobbles with emotion and he rubs over Kexing's strong back.] You've carried me and lost sleep over me. I'm sorry I scared you.
